The Ford dealer sold me the car as a 130 ps TDi but when I gave my registration to the parts department today they told me it was only 115 ps. Is there a code within the engine number or something that can tell what the car actually has?

Are you saying that a Ford Dealer lied to you :P

No it isn't Ady ....... it's only the VW variants ie the Sharan that you can tell by the Tdi badge .... its the number on the engine block, rear right cubby hole or the three letter number on the V5 that will tell you ...mine was an AUY.... 115PS although the Tdi badge was red.

Hi. It's 115 then. :D

Thanks for the info anyway.

I hope you've gone back to them and complained. A 130 would have been valued at more than a 115 so you should expect some money back!

i think this would quite easily come under the sale of goods act as an infringement,if it proves to be then give the trade and standard people a call.or confront the dealer first and see what they offer you,ie cash back and warranty etc etc.

I had the same problem when i bought the Bamma.

They tried to tell me it was a 130 but i was sure it was only a 115 due to the fact it only had 16" alloys and the 130 should have 17".

Only when i kept asking did they go and check and surprise surprise it was a 115.

(wish it had been a 130 tho)

Either that or was mistaken. 130 ps was a definite bonus as far as I was concerned.

My V5 states:

Variant AUY1

Version 7A Q

Does that definitely mean it is 115 ps?

Sounds like you have a Mark 1 Galaxy then. The diesel engines in these were either 90hp (engine code 1Z then later AHU) or 110hp (engine code AFN).

The Mark 2 was introduced with 90hp and 115hp PD (Pumpe Deuse) engines then the 130hp and 150hp were added later.
